Every year, Muji has a store event for Valentines’ Day.

I really like the sustainable and hand-made feel their products have so this is my take on it!

RESEARCH ON MUJI

INTRO TO MUJI

MUJI BRANDING GUIDE

MUJI, originally founded in Japan in 1980. Mujirushi Ryohin, MUJI in Japanese, translates as “no-brand” quality goods.

Muji is a Japanese retail brand known for its minimalist design and high-quality products. With a focus on simplicity and functionality, Muji offers a wide range of household items, apparel, and more, appealing to those who appreciate clean aesthetics and practicality.

To ensure that my project looked consistent with the rest of Muji’s branding, I looked up Muji’s brand guide for their official typeface and colour guide.

PAST VALENTINES CAMPAIGNS

MUJI HONGKONG 2018

MUJI LONDON 2024

This campaign stood out to me because I liked the handwritten elements and illustrations. I also liked the idea of making homebaked goods using Muji’s kits. One of the photos depicts the treats being wrapped with brown paper and twine. These two objects together evoke a very rustic and authentic feel which aligns with Muji’s branding.

This is another campaign that was notable to me. I really like the simplified illustration and the colour scheme used. The cut out feels like it was from a handmade paper card and the gif adds a fun touch.
